For five decades Laszlo Birinyi has been sharing his thoughts on the stock market. First at Salomon Brothers as the de facto strategist, he was responsible for a variety of market studies including trading costs and volatility and the creation of the Salomon/Russell International indices.  His insightful trading manual, The Equity Desk, was cited in Michael Lewis’ Liar’s Poker.

In 1989 he left Salomon Brothers and formed Birinyi Associates and from 1990 through 2003, he was a panelist on Louis Rukeyser’s Wall Street Week.  Laszlo’s year-end recommendations on Wall Street Week, from 1992 – 1999, were literally double the return of the number two panelist. Thus, leading to his induction into that show’s Hall of Fame, with Mr. Rukeyser calling him, “simply the world’s number one stock picker.”

Initially, Laszlo only offered his thoughts and opinions to institutional investors. But after many queries Birinyi Associates began accepting individual investors’ as money management clients. Shortly thereafter the firm started the precursor to our flagship newsletter Reminiscences to serve the needs of individuals who did not meet our minimum for direct money management.
